1.   Chakra Balancing Kit: A Guide to Healing and Awakening Your Energy Body

by Anodea Judith (Paperback - 2004)

    Avg. Customer Rating:

From Amazon.com: Chakras are the seven spinning energy centers of the human body that control every dimension of our physical, mental and spiritual well being. Now, Anodea Judith--one of the country's foremost experts on the therapeutic use of the chakra system--gives access to this subtle energy matrix, opening a powerful path for healing and spiritual growth with a complete chakra wellness kit: Chakra Balancing. Anodea Judith begins with a journey through each of the chakras where listeners discover their purpose, imbalances, and strengths--and learn how to balance their energies for health and awakening. This specially boxed, complete home-study course includes: a 102-page illustrated workbook providing essential information on the chakras, organized into seven lessons (one for each of the chakras), two audio CDs with seven guided audio meditations to work with each of the chakra centers and to address their imbalances, and seven beautifully illustrated chakra cards with a visual image of each chakra, and a description of their key principles and correspondences.

2.   Chakras for Beginners: A Guide to Balancing Your Chakra Energies

by David Pond (Paperback - 1999)

    Avg. Customer Rating:

From Amazon.com: David Pond's book is an inspired text with highly practical information. Just like his other book The Metaphysical Handbook, he provides the reader with rich information on the history and background of chakras while making this ancient healing system apply directly to the current cultural climate. He guides the reader playfully and honestly through each chapter in the ascending order of the chakras so the reader can build up with useful exercises and hands on material. I have studied chakras for many years in my work with clients in the health care field as a bodyworker and educator and found that David's book to be very accessible and a pleasure to use personally. I have numerous clients who have used the techniques in the book as well and report positive results. For anyone interested in working with yoga, energy systems or just want to feel better this is a must read!

3.  Anatomy of the Spirit : The Seven Stages of Power and Healing

by Carolyn Myss (Paperback - 1997)

Avg. Customer Rating: 4.4 out of 5 stars

From Amazon.com: Anatomy of the Spirit is the boldest presentation to date of energy

medicine by one of its premier practitioners, internationally acclaimed medical intuitive

Caroline Myss Based on 15 years of research into energy medicine, Dr. Myss's work shows how every illness corresponds to a pattern of emotional and psychological stresses, beliefs, and attitudes that have influenced corresponding areas of the human body. Anatomy of the Spirit also presents Dr. Myss's breakthrough model of the body's seven centers of spiritual and physical power, in which she synthesizes the ancient wisdom of three spiritual traditions--the Hindu chakras, the Christian sacraments, and the Kabbalah's Tree of Life--to demonstrate the seven stages through which everyone must pass in the search for higher consciousness and spiritual maturity. With this model, Dr. Myss shows how you can develop your own latent powers of intuition as you simultaneously cultivate your personal power and spiritual growth. By teaching you to see your body and spirit in a new way, Anatomy of the Spirit provides you with the tools for spiritual maturity and physical wholeness that will change your life.

1.   Chakra Healing Chants

     ~ Sophia (Audio CD)

    Original Release Date: 2003

Avg. Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

From Amazon.com: Embark on a journey through the Chakras on a river of sacred sound with legendary song-healer Sophia, and David Gordon on shaman drums and native flutes. Serene vocal tones of ancient chants, bamboo flute, tabla, sarod, cello and world percussion soothe and purify the body's energy centers. The perfect soundtrack for yoga, meditation and creating sacred space.

2.   Rhythms of the Chakras

    ~ Glen Velez (Audio CD)

    Original Release Date: 1998

Avg. Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars

From Amazon.com: Velez has created dozens of recordings featuring his percussion, working in a variety of styles and ensembles. On this album, listeners have the rare chance to hear a meditative, simple solo effort. He plays bendir (a frame drum from North Africa) or bodhran, adding caxixi (a Brazilian rattle) or maracas. He overlays this with wispy voices that come and go. Touted as healing musical work that stimulates the energy centers of the body and mind it is also excellent listening music, played with subtle passion or firebrand virtuosity, building layer upon layer of complex rhythm using the most basic of tools. Velez makes a frame drum sing melodies like few percussionists can, and here you can have it without the usual extras.

3.   Chakra Suite

    ~ Steve Halpern (Audio CD)

    Original Release Date: 2001

Avg. Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars

From Amazon.com: I have listened to many different "chakra balancing" CDs, but this is the only recording where I have actually distinctly felt the sounds or appropriate chakras resonating the exact chakra spots--I could feel, without wondering if anything is happening, the sound vibrating in my body right where it's supposed to have an effect--so for that purpose, this is my favorite CD.

1.   Finding Neverland

     Starring: Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet

     (2004) ~ DVD

Avg. Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

From Amazon.com: Sweetness that doesn't turn saccharine is hard to find these days; Finding Neverland hits the mark. Much credit is due to the actors: Johnny Depp applies his genius for sly whimsy in his portrayal of playwright J. M. Barrie, who finds inspiration for his greatest creation from four lively boys, the sons of widow Sylvia Llewelyn Davies (Kate Winslet, who miraculously fuses romantic yearning with common sense). Though the friendship threatens his already dwindling marriage, Barrie spends endless hours with the boys, pretending to be pirates or Indians--and gradually the elements of Peter Pan take shape in his mind. The relationship between Barrie and the Llewelyn Davies family sparks both an imagined world and a quiet rebellion against the stuffy forces of respectability, given physical form by Barrie's resentful wife (Radha Mitchell, High Art) and Sylvia's mother (Julie Christie, McCabe & Mrs. Miller). This gentle silliness could have turned to treacle, but Depp and Winslet--along with newcomer Freddie Highmore as one of the boys--keep their feet on the earth while their eyes gaze into their dreams. Also featuring a comically crusty turn from Dustin Hoffman (who appeared in another Peter Pan-themed movie, Hook) as a long-suffering theater producer.

2.   Dancing at Lughnasa

     Starring: Meryl Streep, Michael Gambon

     (1998) ~ DVD

Avg. Customer Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

From Amazon.com: This affecting, bittersweet tale--adapted from Brian Friel's semi-autobiographical Tony Award-winning play--examines the emotional lives of the five unmarried Mundy sisters in 1936 rural Ireland. In their mutual care is 8-year-old Michael (sweetly understated Darrell Johnston), the illegitimate son of youngest sister Christina (Braveheart's Catherine McCormack). A voice-over from the adult Michael recalls that significant summer, in the month of August, during the feast of Lughnasa. The bolder townfolk dance around a fire to Lugh, an ancient god of light. Yes, this is fiercely Roman Catholic Ireland and Lugh a pagan god, but that irony is at the core of the film, the hypocrisy of tradition. The dramatic change in the richly metaphoric movie comes with the arrival of two men: eldest sibling--and only Mundy brother--Jack (Michael Gambon), a priest returning from many years in Africa, now addled, and Christine's long-absent lover and Michael's father, the charmingly flighty Gerry (Rhys Ifans). Beautiful music and excellent performances highlight the film, which also features gorgeous cinematography of the Irish countryside. Meryl Streep is stern eldest sister Kate; Kathy Burke is lively Maggie; Brid Brennan (who appeared in the stage play) is thoughtful caretaker Agnes; and Sophie Thompson is simple sweet Rose. It's a quiet film, but one filled with ironic and haunting meaning. Directed by Pat O'Connor (Circle of Friends).

3.   Judy Berlin

Starring: Barbara Barrie, Edie Falco, Madeline Kahn, Anne Meara

     (1999) ~ DVD

Avg. Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

From Amazon.com: A lingering solar eclipse casts a strange spell on a dead-end New Jersey town and unleashes hidden passions, frustrated dreams and lonely yearnings in this quirky, bittersweet portrait of small-town life. Full of wonder and wit, this award-winning, critically-acclaimed film, shot in luminous black and white, transforms the familiar terrain of suburbia into an eccentric landscape suffused with a dark and unexpected beauty.
